Custom Fit Amp Research Power Retractable Steps
- Getting into an old lifted truck is not the easiest feat, especially if your more agile days are behind you
- Because of this incorporating a step of some sort is a good idea, but having a fixed step does not look the best hanging off the side
- A power retractable step is a good solution as it will give you that step when you need it, and it will be retracted up out of sight when you do not
- The only problem is that Amp Research, the premier power retractable step manufacturer, does not make steps specifically for 1st-gen Blazers
- We decided to instead order up a set of steps and work to custom fit them, so they retract down level, and retract up out of sight
- A bit of modification was needed to be made under the floor of the Blazer, but with a little trial and error we were able to get it to fit nicely.
Suspension
Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T 35x12.5x15
- The customer wanted to switch out his old BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2's for something with a bit more aggressive tread pattern that would still ride well on the roads
- For this we decided to go with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T, which is our go to tire for classic American trucks as we love the tread design, rides well on the roads around the Cape, and the company was born with classic American performance in mind.
- The aggressive tread pattern gives this truck a much more rugged look, and being that this is a 50 year old truck that will mainly be ridden around town they will ride just as good as the old KO2's
Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shocks w/ Remote Reservoir
- The customer was looking to upgrade his old Rancho shocks as they were worn out leading to a bouncy ride
- He saw the Fox 2.0 Performance Series shocks on one of our other Blazers we have in the shop and wanted to get the same for his
- This customer's Blazer had a two shock setup in the front, so we had to order 6 shocks total for this vehicle
- The remote reservoir on this shock allows for the shock to hold more oil than a standard monotube shock giving it more dampening capabilities
- This results in a much smoother and comfortable ride than before
Fox 2.0 Performance Series Dual Stabilizers
- To match the change in shocks, the customer also wanted to upgrade his steering Stabilizers to the Fox 2.0 shocks
- He previously had a single steering stabilizer but wanted to upgrade to a dual steering stabilizer setup
- This made the biggest difference to the ride as the steering was a lot smoother and controlled than it was before
- Before the steering was not as consistent or controlled. Incorporating these Fox stabilizers greatly helped with that
- For the price, incorporating aftermarket shocks and stabilizers are in my opinion the best upgrade you can make to any truck and 4x4. Having superior dampening provides a much more smoother, controlled, and safer ride than stock
